Scholarships for bright, curious learners

The right learning environment can change everything for a bright, curious child. G.I.F.T. scholarships help families across the United States access programs designed for how gifted and twice-exceptional learners think, feel, and grow.

Who can apply

  • Students in kindergarten through 12th grade

  • Families living anywhere in the United States

  • No formal gifted identification is required. We welcome students who are identified, twice-exceptional, or simply need more depth, pace, or challenge than a typical classroom offers.

  • There are no income limits. Awards are based on each family's situation and need.

What scholarships can cover

Awards can be used at any program that focuses on the needs of gifted and advanced learners. An award may cover a single enrichment class, a camp or competition, testing, or contribute toward tuition. Scholarship funds are paid directly to the program.

A qualifying program is one whose curriculum, instruction, or services are designed for gifted, twice-exceptional, or advanced learners. Families should include a link or description of the program so the committee can confirm the fit.

How to apply

  1. Write a letter describing your child, the program you are considering, and your family's situation and need.

  2. Include the program name, a link or description, its cost, and how the scholarship would be used.

  3. Provide household income information: your most recent federal tax return (first two pages of Form 1040) or, if you did not file, recent pay stubs or other proof of income, plus the number of people in your household.

  4. Note any other funding you are using or have applied for, such as an ESA, other scholarships, or employer benefits.

  5. Submit everything through email to inquiries@fosteringtalent.org.

Income documents are seen only by reviewers, kept confidential, and never shared outside the scholarship process.

How awards are decided

The G.I.F.T. board or a committee it designates reviews every application using a written scoring guide. Reviewers consider household income and size, the family's letter, the student's needs, the program's fit for gifted learners, and available funds. There is no income cutoff, but financial need carries the most weight. Donor gifts and recommendations never reserve or guarantee an award. Any reviewer with a personal or financial connection to an applicant or program steps out of that decision, and the recusal is noted in the board record.

Review schedule

Applications are reviewed quarterly, so there is always a next deadline.

Renewing your scholarship

Families may reapply each year. Renewal requests include a short update letter on the student's progress and the family's current situation. Renewals are not automatic, since awards depend on available funds.
